The cover is a picture of Sonic smirking, surrounded by a pissed Sally, Rouge, Amy, and a surprised Bunnie and semi-angry/surprised Mina. There's a small caption stating 'Play on Playa' which makes really no sense, considering Sonic Prime isn't 'playing' with any of these ladies. Another nitpick is Rouge isn't even in this issue.

Onto the prologue-y story thing: 'Doctor Robotnik in ENGAGE!' (Rant: I hate it when they call him Robotnik, dammit. He's Eggman! He can't take the place of the smarter and seXier Julian!) Art by: James Fry, Writing by: Ken Penders

It starts off with Lupe and her pack trudging through a field, but quickly cuts to a whining Eggman bitching to A.D.A.M about how Sonic always gets the best of him. (Uh, because you're a dumbass?) A.D.A.M says it would take Eggman about 100 years at his present rate of success (read: none) to conquer Mobius. Eggman rants that Sonic is his main concern and if ADAM (typing the periods is getting old) thinks he can do better, than do it! He leaves whining about how he hates having an organic body.
ADAM decides to go about conquering Mobius all by his lonely and goes through several options: build an army, release the 'pods' or unleash the nano-technology. He chooses Door #3 and off we go, back to Lupe!

They hear an odd sound, and Lupe's daughter (you didn't know? Me neither) suggests maybe it's birds. Nope. Suddenly a large metal monstrosity comes at them. It looks like a city and is devouring the ground as it grows in size. The wolf pack takes off. Prologue end.

Onto the main story, though it's so directly related to the last, I don't even know why they bothered making them separate. Whatever.
'Sonic's Angels' written by good ole Penders and penciled by Jon Gray "WB" and Al Bigley. Oh, now we know we're in for XTREME expressions, YAY!

Knothole is holding a meeting to discuss the video feed they've received from Locke that shows the nanite 'city' as it spreads across the land. It's transforming the natural environment into 'sprawling artificial development.' Gee, reminds me of Walmart stores. Anyway...
Sonic arrives, late. He asks what he missed and gets a snide remark from Sally about meetings not be conducted on 'Sonic time.'
'OUCH!' thinks Sonic. He wonders if she's pissed at him or whatever EBIL Sonic might have done.
Rotor states that it will reach Knothole in 24 hours DUN DUN DUN. And Mobius will be covered in under a week! Talk about OUCH.
Sonic asks 'How do we stop this thing?'

Well, silly, you're going to! Before long, Sonic finds himself sharing a flying hoverpod with Fiona, Amy, Mina and Bunnie, followed by a pod containing Rotor, Tommy, Chuck and Tails. Amy thinks Chuck should be leading the charge; Sonic brags that though his Uncle rocks, his speed will probably save the day. Mina calls him a 'chauvinistic oinker' and says 'what about me?' Sonic scoffs about her inexperience, and they land. (sorta ranty: is it just me, or does Mina look like she grew 10 years in this comic?)

Chuck, Rotor, Tails and Tommy set up a station somewhere outside the expanding nanite-city. They have communications set up with Sonic and co. Sonic and the girls continue into the city and land inside. It's enormous and Amy gets a bit worried. She wonders why it's just the 5 of them and Sonic reassures her that 'you're my guys through thick and thin'. (Really...I don't recall him kicking it with Fiona and Mina for very long, bah)

Sonic and the girls drop down through a hole leading deeper inside the city. They split up to cover more ground. Amy and Mina, Fiona and Bunnie, and Sonic solo, begin to explore.

By himself, Sonic thinks: 'This mission is tough enough as it is, without being saddled with all of the girls! What is this?! Sally's revenge?!!' (Rant: Though it might be just Sonic being pissy, I hate the idea of Sally being portrayed as a petty revenge-getter. She would never jeopardize an extremely important mission like that! Damn!)

Bunnie wanders off by herself and gets grabbed by slimy green things (tentacle rape! O>O Kidding.) She screams into her comm device and Sonic and Rotor both flip out as they hear her over their devices. Her signal disappears from the device. DUN DUN DUN.

Now we come to a totally groovy ad for LEGO 'Bionicle' which an 8 page comic and ad!! Which I skipped because who the hell cares.

Sonic is racing like mad to find Bunnie. She's nowhere in sight, but he enters a large lab. Rotor suggests he look for a database to hack in to for info. Sonic spots something down below him; a large computer monitor with a weird looking thing on it. Looks vaguely like Eggman's head, green with the word 'Egg' on its 'forehead'. And *pant pant moan* there's a silhouette standing in front of it... THE SNIV.
Sonic can't believe Sniv could be behind all of this.

Switching to Bunnie's tentacle-rape scene...er...I mean, her capture...
She's laying down as weird metal probes come at her and her legs and metal arms seem to be melting into the table? below her. The computer states she's 'like them and will be absorbed'. Bunnie is crying and says she doesn’t want to be part of the computer. Awwww. *sniff*

Meanwhile: Sonic knocks Sniv over and demands to know where Bunnie is. He is about to punch Sniv's seXy face but Sniv tells him the nanites are behind it all. (Rant: WB draws Sniv's ears too big, his nose pointed up in the air, and his eyes keeping changing in style. Oh well, I'll still moles-*ahem*)
Sonic says: 'nanwhatsis' which I thought was stupidly cute. Sniv looks quite seXy as he explains what nanites are.
Sonic wonders why Eggman would make something that would destroy him too; Sniv explains it's ADAM's doing, ADAM is controlling the nanites. Fiona barges in and is about to whoop Sniv-ass; she has found evidence he's been spreading 'nasty devices' around the complex. Sniv explains that they are EMP detonators; Mina and Fiona jump in to explain their use to Sonic; Sonic shrugs, 'I think I missed that class.'
Sniv gets all up in Sonic's grill angrily saying Sonic never thinks before acting (Sniv being possessed by Sally?). Sonic had stopped Sniv in the midst of programming the timers to detonate at the same time. Now they have to set off the three detonation points manually.

Sonic's about to go off to play hero. The girls say he can't be in three places at once, they will have to work together. Sonic's to go find Bunnie, while the girls take care of the detonators. They're also worried what the EMP would do to Bunnie. Sonic demands to know what Sniv's going to be doing - running off while they play hero! Sniv strikes an arrogant pose and says he'll man the master generator to get the maximum power surge for the EMP. Nice techno-babble, baby.

Sonic asks if Chuck and crew heard all that. Chuck affirms and says Sniv was 'shooting straight' with them. *giggle* (Sorry.) He says if they're going to save Bunnie, do it now, as they are losing her signal. And I thought they had lost it before. Silly me. Sonic runs off to find her.
Mina carries Fiona the 'foxy lady' and runs off to a detonator point. Amy stays behind with a strangely-beady-eyed Sniv stating that she doesn’t trust him; great to bring that up when you're running low on time, honey. Sniv says he's doing this to get revenge on ADAM (For what?) and he doesn’t give a 'rat's behind' about the rest of them. For some reason this flippant disregard of the FF's lives makes Amy trust him. Alrighty then.

Fiona reaches the first 'flashpoint'. Sonic finds Bunnie. She's still being absorbed into the contiguity because she's robotic. Sonic calls the Eggman-head-shaped-nanite thing a dork and yells that it can't absorb the forest or Bunnie (but it did, so...er...)
Mina reaches the third flashpoint and Sonic is upset because Bunnie might be harmed if they set off the EMP, but it seems there's no choice.

Then Chuck reminds him how Tails stumped ADAM with jokes, because ADAM only understood logic. Well, the nanites only understand organic and inorganic, but not mixing the two. Sonic asks if the nanite-thing is programmed to kill, or 'waste' energy. The nanite-thing says organic tissue doesn’t serve a purpose. You're either robotic or flesh. Sonic says 'well, why are you trying to absorb somebody is both? You won't be able to use her organic tissue and she'll die without her robotic limbs. So it's a waste...where's the logic in that?' The nanite-thing can't come up with an answer and the entire city shuts down. Wow.

Bunnie returns to normal and climbs out of the green goo. Sonic claims it's a miracle with a *GASP* tear in his eye! Then Bunnie kisses him on the mouth. O.O (Rant: I'm sorry, this is so dumb coming from somebody who gleefully pairs up people like Snively and Robotnik...but I find Sonic/Bunnie so WRONG! Don't ask me why...I just do!)

The city opens up and everyone climbs out into the daylight. Rotor collects some nanites for further inspection. The wolf pack shows up on the scene, unharmed. Sonic and the girls fly towards home pondering the nanite's 'independent thought' and are relieved they didn't have to resort to Sniv's plan. Sonic wonders where the twerp is...

Sniv, looking about 80-years old all the sudden, is grinning and bragging to the Knothole brain-crew (Chuck, Tommy, Tails, Rotor) about the nanites. He thinks they might provide an answer to bring down his uncle for good. (Rant: Eggman isn't his uncle >< I hate that! LOL) Chuck thinks there's hope for Sniv. Sniv asks if they 'trust him fully' and Tails, looking quite angry in the background, sneers 'Keep hoping.'

"And on that note, we take our leave of the Knothole brain trust! Next issue the fun and adventure hits a sour note with a 'songoose' when a weasel with the 'nack' drops in!"

The end, no Sonicgrams, art, or whatnot.

Overall: Thought the issue had a lot of info packed into it. Could've been better in two issues. I also had an issue with the nanite-thingy not recognizing Bunnie as part organic by itself. How couldn't it? Also, how could it absorb the forest if it only wanted to absorb robotic stuff? WB's art was wonky as usual; with some good panels and other ones that were just annoying. Being a Snivvy-nut, I was a tad annoyed how he went from cute in some panels to downright weird/ugly looking in others, and also, what the hell was up with his pants (you'll see what I mean). Mina also looked weird; like she had grown taller...or older.
And random annoyances: where did the hoverpods come from.. the thing with Sally that I mentioned earlier, Bunnie kissing Sonic (O>O) and Sniv being too damn cheerful and friendly at the end. Bahhh. 'Course, he always was a bit of an airhead in the comics, so...
