Author's Notes: Yeah, I'm doin' the Robert Brown & Francis Tolbert thing, but I hope you don't mind. This is the first story that I'm starting with my own little SatAM type universe. The first few stories will be somewhat violent and start pretty much at the same time as season 1 of the SatAM episodes. I take characters from my head and Sega, but no one else. Copyright crap and future stories are at the end including more of my comments. Just one small warning, the final defeat of Robotnik isn't until my 50th fic, so remember that. This is the only time I'm saying it... Error In the System by Nayr T'nargh "Somewhere a computer, observing how we are, Searching for the error in the system on this star" -Peter Schilling Chapter 1: The beginning A cool spring evening, that everyone has experienced at least once, was upon the northern hemisphere of Mobius. Any normal person would be recreating in such beautiful weather. That is, if all but about twenty people were programmed to work in sewers or other disgusting areas in the heart of Robotropolis instead of enjoying the weather outside of the factories. Of course, that wouldn't help either seeing that Robotropolis was so polluted that even a nice day wouldn't even do anything for the horrid city. The few people who did still have complete possession of their free will were all enjoying themselves on the bridge over a lake which brought forth a power ring every 24 hours. One of these individuals was none other than Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic was and is the fastest thing on Mobius. He was also arrogant and couldn't be serious about anything or anyone if his life depended on it. Sonic, however, was driving everyone off the bridge with his horrible singing abilities accompanied by the wail of an of an off key electrical guitar. "Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom! Trouble keeps you runnin' faster..." Sonic screamed, as it would be too inappropriate to call it singing. Sonic spun around dancing to his "music" and didn't realize he was on the edge of the bridge. He spun around again hitting the rails. The electric guitar left his grip to go sailing into the pool, discharging and short circuiting itself throughout the entire pool. Everyone whistled and clapped at the guitar's demise. Sonic, however, moaned over the loss of his only electric guitar and stared at it floating in the pool. He also noticed while staring into the pool that there were several dead fish strewn across the surface of the water. Sonic ran over to the edge of the power ring pool and plucked out a fish. "Anyone for a barbecue?" asked Sonic sarcastically and dropped the fish back in the pool. Sonic then proceeded to walk to his hut for a small nap. Sally was sitting in the grass enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature which were once again audible, thanks to carelessness of Sonic. Sally was somewhat of the opposite of Sonic, being serious most of the time and coming up with brilliant plans that almost always succeeded. If they didn't, she was a nervous wreck for the rest of the day. Sally was also very intelligent, making Sonic look braindead in comparison. In fact, she made many people look stupid in comparison except a few individuals who will remain anonymous at the moment. Sally held a piece of paper in her hand. It was from Sir Charles, Sonic's robotic uncle whom Sonic restored free will to not that long back. Sir Charles was working underground at the moment and had a personality similar to Sally, but was more careful and laid back. It seems that some of this underground work produced the knowledge of one of Robotnik's projects. Which was always bad news, but at least they could make an attempt to stop it before they witnessed it first hand. This project was heavily encrypted unlike most of Robotnik's plans. Because of this, it couldn't be decoded. This made the project become an infinite number of possibilities. If they didn't know the key of the project, it could be anything from how to make a toaster to how to destroy the Great Forest with the press of the button. Of course, it would be stupidity to put an impossibly scrambled encryption on how to make a toaster. As of yet, Sir Charles had not been able to crack a single thing. After looking over the information, it was apparent that NICOLE couldn't either. NICOLE was Sally's personal computer and trustworthy companion. Small enough to clip onto her boots, it was no surprise that the small computer couldn't crack what a supercomputer in Robotropolis couldn't. Sally folded up the note and put it into one of her vest pockets. She sighed and looked at the trees of the forest. There used to be thousands of them. Now there were only about 500 thanks to the machine that Robotnik used. Of course, even this fact didn't make them change the name of the tree gathering to the "Small Gathering of 500 Trees". It was still known as the Great Forest to everyone. Sally refocused on the task at hand. She had to find out about this project. Chapter 2: Mission to Robotropolis Sally strolled up to Sonic's hut. She knocked on the door, but no one answered it. Even though she was patient, she knew Sonic wasn't and would have answered by now. Sally invited herself in and saw Sonic fast to sleep in bed. His pillow was wet with tears from the loss of his electric guitar. Sally felt bad for him. Even if he couldn't sing or play, it was the only thing he was able to bring from Mobotropolis when Warlord Julian had attacked. Of course, Warlord Julian was now Robotnik. Sally knelt next to Sonic's ear. “Sonic..." Sally whispered into Sonic's ear. Sonic stirred and began to mumble meaninglessly. "Muttski! I didn't know you could talk..." Sonic said. Sally was irritated with this comment and shoved him out of bed. Sonic fell head first into the hard wood floor. Unlike before, Sonic wasn't doing anything period now, so Sally went out for help. * * * Sonic was now reclining in a hospital bed. He was rather irritated with Sally now. The bed was stone hard and he would have like to have been in his own bed, but Sally saw to it that he was going to spend time in a stone hard hospital bed with the thermostat set to below freezing. At that moment Sally walked into the hospital room with the doctor. They were both smiling. This made Sonic even more miserable. "No worries! You just conked yer noggin. You can leave now." said the doctor. Sonic hopped out of the hospital bed and slipped his shoes on. Sonic decided to lighten the situation a little. "Sal, I can always get a new guitar. You don't have to assure that I meet it today." Sonic said sarcastically. Sally didn't take the remark the way he expected, however. "I was trying to wake you up and you wouldn't get up! Maybe you should try taking a nap more than once a week!" Sally snapped back. Sonic was offended. "Oh really? The last thing you need is me to not exist. There wouldn't even be a resistance anymore without me! There's no way a single mission would've succeeded without my help." Sonic said and realized after the fact that he just jumped off a cliff. Sally just smiled and they walked out of the hospital. Sally turned to Sonic in a fit of rage. "So you think we're nobody's without you're help? Well guess what. We'd all be fine if you never existed. I wouldn't care if you DROPPED DEAD RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!" Sally screamed at Sonic. Sonic was steaming and ran back to his hut leaving two Sonic booms behind to vent his rage. Of course, it didn't help that a pebble blocked his path and he sailing into the dirt at 1000 KPH. Two accidents had happened now... would his third one be the charm? * * * Sally called a secret meeting of all the core Freedom Fighters, with the exception of Sonic. Not that it mattered anyway, because Sonic overheard Sally tell Bunnie. Sonic decided to follow them into Robotropolis secretly so that when things turned bad, Sonic could save them and show how he was needed. Of course, like any mission, it would be nice if he had a power ring for tough situations. Sonic got to the ring pond and held his nose. The odor of dead fish filled the air where his guitar fried them. Sonic resented the fact he didn't make that barbecue he was joking about. He was thinking about all these things so much that he almost missed the power ring. He grabbed a stick and hooked the power ring as it fell back to the water. Sonic slipped the golden ring into his pack and took off after Sally. * * * Sally met Uncle Chuck in one of Robotropolis' thousands of junk yards. Uncle Chuck seemed very happy to see them. Sally wasn't happy at all because this junk yard was fresh with organic waste and chemicals, making any normal person throw up their intestines. Of course, Sally wasn't a person, she was half fox / half squirrel, which made things much more pleasant. "Princess, I decrypted the information on Project Rotira, but Robotnik must still be keeping a big secret, because not even the encrypted message makes any sense." Uncle Chuck told Sally. Sally grabbed the paper with the message typed across it. She could tell the printer ran out of ink again, because the writing was in sparkly gold, a colour Robotnik despised. She squinted and read the sparkly gold message. Here is what it said: "Out of our creation, we have lost control. Banished to a planet where dreams are bought and sold. Somewhere a computer observing how we are searches for the error in the system on this star." Sally finished reading it and sighed. It made no sense to Sally and the words didn't even fit Robotnik's interests except for computer, system and control. Of course, the lost in front of control probably didn't appeal to Robotnik either. Uncle Chuck looked at his computer watch on his wrist. "I've got duty in five minutes. Tell me what you've figured out with in twenty four hours." Uncle Chuck told Sally and ran off toward one of Robotropolis' meaningless factories. Sally motioned for everyone to be silent. Sally also motioned for everyone to follow her and they left the junk yard. "I am glad to have beeing out of zat horrid place!" Antoine said in relief. All of a sudden eleven swat bots came flying toward them. They noticed Princess Sally immediately. "Priority two: Acorn" the swat-bots droned. Bunnie sent her metal fist through the first swat-bot severing many vital wires to it's function. It fell to the ground. The other ten surrounded Bunnie. Although, she could handle two, she couldn't handle ten. All of a sudden the swat-bots ran over to another location. "Priority two dropped in favour of Priority one: hedgehog!" they droned and ran after Sonic. Sonic laughed and sliced all of them in half in a single smoothe move. Sonic ran up to Sally. "Come on Sal! Let's get out of here before Robotnik finds out about us!" Sonic told Sally. Sally nodded reluctantly and Sonic pulled out his power ring and held it up. Unlike usual, this time something went terribly, horribly wrong... The Final Defeat of Sonic the Hedgehog Twin circles of blinding blue lightning surged around Sonic. Sonic winced and fell into the fetal position, dropping the ring in the process. As the ring hit the slimy dirt, Sonic also hit the ground with bolts of electricity slowly discharging from his body. This was obviously more than Sally could handle and screamed so loud it could wake the dead. Of course, I'm not going to change this story into House of the Dead, so the dead didn't wake up. "Bunnie! Pick him up! We need to get him medical attention as quickly as possible!" yelled Sally. Of course she didn't consider the fact that there could be more swat-bots in the vicinity. For the convenience of the plot and the fact that the alteration in events if there were swat-bots wouldn't let me make fun of soap operas in the next couple of sentences, they made it back to Knothole with no problems. * * * Sally kneeled at the side of Sonic's medical bed. She didn't really mean what she said to Sonic earlier. Of course, no one means what they said if makes other people go into the position of death. The doctor walked up to Sally. "Princess, it seems that the power ring Sonic used was effected by the electrical shock delivered by his guitar. It released 10,000 volts of electricity through his body. I don't want to be a doomsayer, but I don't think he's gonna make it." the doctor told Sally. Sally looked at Sonic again. She stayed by his side the entire night, listening to the soft beep of the heart monitor. She was awakened suddenly by a falter in the pattern of the beep. The beep was getting longer, then the beep fell steady. Sonic the Hedgehog was dead. Of course, since the entire series is about him, he'll come back to life somehow. For the rest of this story, however, Sonic is really, truly dead. Subchapter by author Since I control everything that happens in this story, that makes me their god. Since that is true, I must be in heaven. If that is also true, that means that Sonic is heading here too! In fact he's walking into my office right now. Hi Sonic! Hi. How do you feel about being dead? It sucks. Well, now you can watch the rest of the story I write out about all your friends. You want to? Sure. Then let's get back to the plot! * * * Church bells rang. Of course, it wasn't Sunday, but it was the signal of the gathering for Sonic's funeral. Sally was wearing all black and her face showed small channels where tears had fallen. Everyone in the village was gathered at Sonic's casket. Sally looked at the hedgehog she would never see again. She looked at the hedgehog she loved. Of course, it's partly her fault that he's dead, but we won't dwell on that fact at the moment. The preacher walked up to the podium. "We are gathered here to cele-- I mean mourn the loss of Maurice Hedgehog, whom we all know much better as Sonic. He was a rash and energetic guy, but met the author of this story several sentences back." the preacher said. "I will now turn the time over to those who wish to make a comment on their memories of Sonic." Antoine stood up in front of Sonic's casket and cleared his throat. "Soneec was a stupeed fuel! But now I am to be haveeng zee Preencess." Antoine said. Sally charged at him and slapped him in the face so hard he fell backward onto Sonic's casket splitting the casket (and Sonic's body) in half. Everyone gasped. Sally ran back to her hut tears in her eyes. Antoine stood up again. "I am also to bee tanking Soneec for chopping my fall." Antoine added. Someone from the audience stood up. "You mean breaking your fall." the Mobian said. Antoine smiled and nodded, then sat down. * * * Sally was on a solo mission to Robotropolis. During all this excitement, she never mentioned Sonic's death to his uncle. Unfortunately, that wasn't what Uncle Chuck wanted to here. "Sonic's dead? How could that happen?" yelled Sir Charles. Sally told him about the power ring. Charles looked at the ground and shook his head. "What's wrong?" asked Sally. Charles looked at the princess. "I figured out part of the code." Charles said. "I thought we figured it all out." "Yes, but we didn't understand it. The truth is, the words were actually lyrics to a song from before the great disaster called `Error in the System'. It seems that the remaining records of these songs are kept in one of Robotropolis' buildings. It's possible that's where Robonik's keeping his plans hidden, too. I normally would have my nephew go get them, but now it's going to be a lot harder. It looks like we have an error in our system, too." "No we don't. We can still make it without Sonic. You're right, it will be harder, but we can't give up the fight yet." With this word, Sally returned to Knothole to plan out how to get to the song's records. Of course, Robotnik had a feeling that this might happen the entire time. If the Freedom Fighters found out about it, they had a pretty good chance at screwing the entire thing up. He just needed one more day and he couldn't let them spoil it that night... Robonik's Plans, His First True Freedom Fighter Defeat, and Other Neat Stuff Robotnik lounged in his high tech chair, a throne of sorts and contemplated the security monitors in front of him. He had every monitor in the city on the solitary building where the records were kept. At this point, it didn't matter if the freedom fighters took down buildings in the rest of his city. For all he cared they could ruin Project Voodoo. If he pulled off his next plan, he wouldn't need Project Voodoo anyway. It was getting late and Robotnik was dozing off. Snively kept watch instead when he noticed a camera go black. Snively was no one's fool. It was the Freedom Fighters! "Sir, Sir!" yelled Snively. Robotnik almost lept out of his chair. He glared at Snively. "This had better be good, Snively." "The Freedom Fighters are in quadrant 0-9 Delta, Sir." "Send every swatbot and stealth bot in the city to exterminate all living life forms there." "But sir-" "DO AS I SAY AT ONCE!!!!!!!!!!" "Of course, sir, but what if they attack somewhere else in the city?" "If they do, I don't care. As long as this mission suceeds, they won't last more than three days." Every swatbot and stealthbot started surrounding the complex as Sally, Bunnie, Rotor, Antoine, and for the first time Tails also closed in on the complex. Sally looked up at the building. "You'd think Robotnik would have better defenses at such a place. There's nothing here to guard this place in sight! Let's go on in." Sally told everyone. They walked in through the front door. "All swatbots, surround every entrance of the complex." Robotnik said, watching the entire scene play out on one of the cameras. Sally finally got to a group of file cabinets. They were arranged alphabetically. "A-B, C-D, E..." Sally said while scanning through the cabinets. "Here it is, `Error in the System'." "All swatbots, turn the entire complex into molten ash." Robotnik commanded. "But sir, the files will be lost!" Snively said. "No they won't Snively, they're made out of diamond fiber. I don't believe that melts." Sally heard laser fire striking around the entire complex. She heard metal feet clanging up the stairs firing lasers at the building. "Tails! Do you think you're big enough to carry us?" asked Sally. Tails shook his head `no'. "Could you carry just Sally girl and the papers?" asked Bunnie. Tails nodded. "Don't worry Sally girl, we'll hold these vermin off while you an' Tails get back to Knothole." Bunnie told Sally. Sally nodded. "Be careful guys. If you don't return in 30 minutes, I'll send out a search party." "What ees to be happening to me?" asked Antoine. "You get to be part of the action!" yelled Rotor. "I am thinkeeng I should `ave been stayeeng in my own bed." Antoine said to himself. Of course, since these are main characters, I'm not going to finish them off right now. Finishing off Sonic was bad enough, so to make a long complicated story short, they made it out of the building. The building however, did collapse. What happened to the Stealthbots? Obviously Robotnik forgot about them or something. Everyone makes mistakes every now and then. Of course, Robotnik realized that mistake once he found out that the Freedom Fighters had gotten away with his top secret plans. Robotnik was just about to go insane when his top secret weapon walked in the door with the files Robotnik thought were stolen. "Hi doc. Gimme the jewels, and the rest of the resistance is history." said the dark figure. Robotnik handed him all sorts of assorted diamonds and rubies. "No emeralds?" asked the figure. Robotnik shook his head. "You know they're almost impossible to come by." Robotnik told him. The figure handed Robotnik the papers. "I swiped them from the fox and princess. They didn't know what hit `em." said the figure. Robotnik grinned evily. "Thank you very much, Blade. Your help will be greatly rewarded." Robotnik told the figure. As Blade walked out of the room into the brightly lit hallway, you make out his figure. He was a black hedgehog, about four inches taller than Sonic was and had many biomechanical enhancements to make him fifty times more powerful than any other creature on Mobius. The first enhancement came across his forehead. It alowed him to do math at twice the speed of the most powerful computer in Robotropolis. Because of this, he could plan strategic attacks up to two hours in the future in a single second. The next one was implanted in his eyes. He could use this in cooperation with the first. The others increased agility, hearing, speed, power, and energy. Of course, he wasn't roboticized. He was worse than that. He is what on Earth we refer to as a bounty hunter. The freedom fighters would be his ultimate prize. He gazed in a 360 degree angle. Heat readings were coming from the edge of the small gathering of trees (AKA the Great Forest). That would be his first area to cover. He went into stealth mode (a form of invisibility) and ran over there at a speed only matched by Sonic... How Blade Found Knothole and Gained the Inhabitants Trust Blade turned off stealth mode behind a tree. There was a rabbit, walrus, and coyote walking into the small gathering of trees. Blade ran out into their path, but not within sight range. He pressed a button on his hand computer and put himself into standby mode. He slumped to the ground, as if unconscious. This is because the stand-by mode feature gives the appearance of being traumatized in some way. This would be more than enough to get the other furries to take him to their village, at which point Robotnik would have Knothole's location. Then he would gain their trust, and then-- Blade shivered at the thought of what would happen to the unknowing furries. Or he would've if he wasn't in standby mode. "Ahh!!!!! Eet ees ze ghost of Soneec!" Antoine screamed and ran the opposite direction. Bunnie and Rotor ignored Antoine at the moment and ran over to Blade. Bunnie looked worried. "Is `e still alive?" asked Bunnie. Rotor checked Blade's breathing and heart beat. "Alive, but unconscious. It looks like Robotnik's been after him, however. There's tons of metal parts all over him. I'll have to look into this later." Rotor responded. Antoine slowly crept back. "Ees ze ghost being gone?" asked Antoine. "It's not a ghost, it's just another Mobian. A hurt one at that! Let's get him back to Knothole" Rotor told Antoine and headed back to Knothole. Little did they know that each step they took was a step closer to revealing Knothole's location to Robotnik... * * * Blade was revived from his standby mode in a stone hard hospital bed. He sat up and jumped out of the bed. Blade opened the door and walked out. All of a sudden Sally came running toward him. "Your awake! You should get back in bed." Sally told him and ushered him back to the hospital bed. "I don't want to go back in that bed, it's made of stones!" "No it isn't." Blade pushed Sally into the bed. She hit the mattress with an ouch. "Sorry. I guess I was wrong. I'll have to speak with the hospital about that." Sally appologized. Then she changed the subject. "Well, what's your name?" "Blade." "I've never seen you before. Where did you come from?" "Mobotropolis. It wasn't until I came out of the fall out shelter I was in that I realized that something had gone horribly wrong. All of a sudden some of the police-bots came and arrested me and took me to see Warlord Julian. Julian took me and tried to turn me into a robot using one of his machines. He's experimenting with a new design, so it started in a different way. That's why I have metal parts surrounding my body. I escaped after the machine super enhanced all of my natural abilities and almost made it to safety when a police bot took me down just inside the small gath-- I mean the Great Forest." "That's an interesting story, Blade. You're safe in Knothole. Robotnik doesn't know where we are." Blade couldn't help thinking how he obviously knows where it is now. He obviously has the leader's trust, but he can't start his final attack until he has everyone's trust... * * * Blade found convincing everyone he was a good guy was easy. Everyone, that is, except Rotor. Rotor seemed suspicious of the mechanical attachments. It seemed that he knew that something was wrong with him, but he couldn't put his finger on it. It didn't matter, Rotor couldn't stop his plan. Sally gave him his own hut and Blade went into it. He spoke into his wrist com. "Hey, Robotnik! I'm starting phase 2. The stupid furries won't know what hit them. Whatever you do, don't drop the nukes on Knothole until I have the chance to fry the furries. Got it?" Blade told Robotnik. Robotnik gave his word. Blade pulled out a disk and slipped it into his hand computer. The computer's screen now read "Mind Mold Upgrade Downloading". Blade walked to Sally's hut. Mind Mold: the Involuntary Loss of Free Will Through Speech and Other Neat Devices Blade knocked on Sally's door. Sally answered the door. Blade turned on the mind mold feature and spoke. "Hello Sally, may I come in?" asked Blade. Sally smiled. "Sure. What do you want to talk about?" "I wanted to say that you are getting very tired." "You're righttt.. IIII ammm." "Now you're wide awake." "Wow! You're right! How can you tell how I'm feeling?" Blade ignored Sally's comment. It was time for the final blow to the Freedom Fighters. He crossed his fingers, hoping it worked. "Touch the port on the microchip in the middle of my forehead." Sally put her finger in the port. Metallic pieces starting appearing on Sally in a similar pattern to Blade's. "You went to Robotropolis on a solo mission. You were captured my Robotnik and got partially Roboticized. Whenever someone says your name or calls you princess with the exception of me, you have an uncontrolable desire to touch them, right?" "That's right." "And when I say your name the last thing you want to do is touch me, right?" "That's right." "Good. That's all I wanted to talk about." Blade glanced outside and saw Tails walking by. "Hey Tails! Can you come here a sec?" "Sure!" "Tails, what's her name?" Blade asked pointing at the princess. "That's Aunt Sally, of course!" Tails replied. Sally reached out and touched Tails on the arm. Tails grabbed the arm Sally touched in pain. There was a flash and Tails turned into a robot in half a second. Tails left Knothole to go to Robotropolis. Sally gasped. "You're a traitor!" "That's right Sally and now you don't remember a thing about what just happened, except in your subconscious." Sally blinked. "What where we talking about Blade?" Blade turned off mind mold. "Nothing important, Sally. Just get some rest." Sally returned to her hut, not knowing that she was now a bigger threat than Robotnik was. * * * Blade had completely forgot about Tails. The next morning brought chaos. Everyone was frantically searching for Tails. Bunnie ran up to Sally with a terrified look on her face. "Uncle Chuck says the computers `ave `im as a robot!" Bunnie told Sally. "What are we gonna do, Sally girl?" A strange look came upon Sally's face. "I'm sorry Bunnie, I can't resist. All of a sudden I have an urge to touch you." Sally said. "What?!" Sally touched Bunnie. Bunnie winced. "Oh mah stars! I have an awful pain all over my body!" Bunnie said. There was a flash and metal crackled across her fur replacing it the fur with metal to match her other robotic parts. Sally screamed. Bunnie took off into the sky in the general direction of Robotropolis. Sally ran towards Rotor's workshop. Antoine was standing outside doing stuff for him. "Hello, mah Preencess." greeted Antoine. Sally reached out and touched Antoine. Antoine fell to the ground in pain. There was a flash and metal plates crackled onto his body. Like Bunnie, he took off towards Robotropolis. Blade was following Sally the entire time. He was really trying not to burst out laughing, but he couldn't help a small grin. Sally ran into Rotor's workshop. "Hi Sa-" Sally cut Rotor off. "DON'T SAY MY NAME!!!" Sally screamed. Rotor looked up from what he was working on. "Why? What happened? Why do you have metal on part of you?" "I was in an accident with Robotnik. Whenever someone says my name, I have to touch them. I can't even resist. It's like I can't control it. The worst part, however, is when I do touch someone, they get roboticized." "Let me try something quick." Rotor said and took out a lizard. He attached a microphone to it's neck. Rotor stood behind something and whispered into the microphone "Sally". Sally reached out and touched the lizard. The lizard flashed and turned into a robot. Rotor ran over to it and grabbed it. He put it in one of his many devices. He pressed many different buttons and a sheet printed out. Rotor looked at it and shook his head. "Bad news. Those metal appendages on you are the cause of the immediate robotization. You're like a walking roboticizer. Of course, that's only if you touch someone. The urge for you to touch someone when they say your name is not caused my the metal at all. I'd normally take the metal off, but whatever you touch turns robotic. Like the story of King Midas almost." "Robotnik did this on purpose? He wasn't trying to fully roboticize me?" "I don't think Robotnik had anything to do with it. The metal appendages look similar to Blade's." "You think Blade did it?" "Yes" "That's ridiculous! Blade would never do something like that." A Short Chapter: How Blade Finished Off Knothole Village While Sally was talking to Rotor, Blade had tricked the rest of Knothole to gather around Rotor's workshop. Blade told them that Sally was going to make a speech on the whereabouts of Tails and everyone was outside. Sally left Rotor's hut disturbed, and was faced with the rest of the village. Only one problem: they were cheering her name. Sally really tried to resist it, but couldn't. Using the appendages Blade had given her, she managed to touch every person at the meeting in two seconds. By this point, Blade had already started going back to Robotropolis. As you probably guessed. Everyone turned into a robot and took off to Robotropolis. Sally gasped. She had wiped out the rest of Knothole in two seconds. Blade was nowhere to be seen... The Final Chapter Rotor ran up to Sally. Sally just sat in the dirt and cried. The entire village was deserted. Rotor sat down next to Sally. "Don't worry. Dulcy didn't make it. She's still free and she's all we need to stop whatever Robotnik's doing." Rotor told Sally. Sally looked at Rotor. "You were right. It was Blade. He wasn't among the crowd. Robotnik got us with a spy." Sally cried. "How could he betray his own kind, though?" "That's why I was suspicious of him. The attachments he had boosted his abilities. His eyes were made of specially designed chips. He wasn't a spy. He's a bounty hunter: neutral hunters paid to destroy a place or person. He didn't help Robotnik for free. Robotnik paid him." "Why didn't you say anything?" "Because I didn't want to make any false judgements. If he knew I was onto him, he would've exterminated me right away. The only way to fix things is to deroboticize all of Knothole." "It's impossible!" "We can at least try." Rotor and Sally went and got Dulcy. They took off towards Robotropolis. * * * "Well, the Freedom Fighters are as good as gone. I think it's about time to go ahead and trash Knothole." Blade told Robotnik. Robotnik turned around in his seat. "Did she touch the dragon?" Robotnik asked calmly. Blade started sweating. "What dragon? I thought they were all roboticized!" "There's one left. Did she touch the dragon?" "There wasn't a dragon at the assembly." Robotnik was about to scream at him when Snively interupted. "The princess, walrus, and dragon are in sector 3. Should I send in the swat bots?" Robotnik smiled. "No... send in our new recruits. Turn them into mince meat, or roboticize them." Then something else came across Robotnik's mind. "Blade, where is the hedgehog?" "Me?" "No, the other hedgehog in Knothole." Robotnik leaned closer. "Sonic." "Oh! You're talking about the guy who got fried to death by his own weapon!" Robotnik's eyes got wide. "Sonic.... is.. DEAD?" "Yeah, why?" "He's the only one who could stop me! That's what! Oh well, he's toast now. I just bombed Knothole with my nuclear warheads." "Why did you do that?" "Because I felt like it." "Now I can't carry out my plan!" "What plan?" "Framing the walrus!" "I never heard of this plan." "I told you framing him would be the good idea, but NO! You had to go and drop 500 nukes on the small gathering of trees!" "It's called the Great Forest and you are of no more use to me." Robotnik pressed a button on his chair. A plexi-glass lid crashed down around Blade. Blade gasped. "I never give away my money without getting it back." Robotnik said and pressed another button. A green energy wave crashed down on Blade. The roboticizer started glitching out. "What's happening?!" asked Robotnik frightened. Blade smiled. "I'm giving my life to make your life miserable. Self destruct in 10 seconds. One of my other abilities I never mentioned was my ability to sacrifice my life in this dimenstion for another's life. Sonic will come to life once I die." Blade said. Robotnik escaped as fast as he could along with Snively. Blade exploded taking out the entire war room with it. Sonic appeared where Blade was standing, laying on the ground. Yeah, Sonic just disappeared from my office so he must've gone back. Sonic stood up and looked around. He knew that something big had gone down since he'd been gone. The war room was destroyed and Robotnik and Snively were no where to be scene. Sonic ran out of the room to end the error that was in the Freedom Fighter's system. To be continued in Error in the System II coming out in two to three months! Trust me... It'll be a lot better than this one ;) Disclaimer: This is the third in my series of stories. The other two are "Collision Chaos" (which you may never read) and Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie 2. I have about 50 more planned out, so look out! Most of them will be better and longer than this one! The humor at the beginning was to soften the impact of killing off Sonic. It's not everyday a fanfic goes and kills off Sonic for real, so I figured I'd make part of it funny. Don't worry. Future ones will be all action. Most will be somewhat violent and even scary, so if you're under the age of 10, I wouldn't read some of the stories I write. I'll have a warning before the start if it might be too scary for some readers. Now for the disclaiming stuff: Sonic, Tails and all related characters are (c) 1991 SEGA. Sally, Rotor, Bunnie and all related characters are (c) 1994 DIC. Blade is my own character and he's (c) 2000 (yes I had the idea a year ago) J. Ryan Grant! Do not do anything I wouldn't like to my story (copy the plot, MiST it, claim it as your own, etc.) without at least asking me first. Who knows? I might let you copy the plot and I may even let you MiST it (it's pretty MiSTable isn't it?). My e-mail is nayr@gsrc.org. Here's a list of the next few stories in this series. These are all I'm going to do on this plot line. If people _really_ like the series, I'll continue this one, but I'd advise waiting 'til you see my _new_ stories that I'm writing with my friend. I'll continue both if it comes down to it!: More violent, darker series: 4) Error in the System II - Blade returns, the freedom fighters are freed, and life goes on 5) If I Go Crazy - Sally pisses Sonic off so much he goes insane. Can Sally restore his sanity before Robotnik AND Sonic destroy the Freedom Fighters? 6) Beautiful Oblivion - One of Robotnik's killer projects backfires, turning part of Mobius unstable in a strange way... (The first really good one) Season 3 series: 1) Strike Back - Snively returns with a secret weapon
