View CommentsArchie Comic’s Metroid Comic That Never Was

    June 2nd, 2017 by

Archie Sonic artist Steven Butler recently shared his commissioned artwork for an American Metroid comic once considered by Archie Comics. The project was floated about six years ago, but ultimately Archie went with a Mega Man adaptation instead.

Butler’s detailed sketches show both Zero Suit Samus and various takes of her in her Power Suit. He even included highly-detailed version of the boss Ridley.
Nintendo‘s Metroid video game series inspired a two-part manga in 1986 and later a two volume manga in 2004 that Tokyopop released in English. Nintendo‘s Captain N Comics, based on the Saturday morning cartoon of the same name, featured Samus and the antagonist Mother Brain. Samus has also appeared in Benimaru Itoh’s Super Metroid Comics and Dreamwave’s Metroid Prime Comics, both published in Nintendo Power, and in the Samus and Joey manga.
