And here is Sonic.  Being all awesome.  You have to be awesome to talk to the narrator.

The accuracy of Sonic’s ye olde nineteenth century English dialect is astounding. Of course, I wouldn’t prefer him written in any other manner. It’s great to see him unburdened for once of all the emotional struggles he normally keeps bottled up. He’s such a fun character when written well.

I can’t help but grin at the first panel, while the snow covering Rotor in the second is a very nice touch.

  2. Death of Ink

Sheesh, she’s even got no time or affection for her boyfriend!

I don’t know which one’s more cold hearted right now, Sally Scrooge or Real Scrooge

  3. superintendent

Liking the black & white panels. Not sure why Sally is Scrooge but looks awesome.

  4. TheRedAuthar

I dunno….regular Sal would be ticked if Sonic bother her while working.

Sonic also has a knack for showing up during the most inconvenient times.

  5. TheRedAuthar

Wait…the narrator is Awesome face right?

  6. Uncle Ben

    @RedAuthar- That would be hilarious

Sally is so mean to Sonic right now

  7. Skotty

A nice story Sami and Gojira made in a short time so far.
There is just one little thing I do not like: The pictures (except the first page) seem to be streched/compressed, making contures look not very sharp 🙁

  8. Gojira007

@ Skotty: I’ve had that problem before myself, but it tends to be the browser rather than the pages themselves; I’m looking at the page right now and not seeing the problem, for example.

  9. Skotty

    @ Gojira:
I do always download every page you guys release here by clicking on it and Show Full Picture, so I actually see the real uploaded version in full size, and it has this problem. It no browser problem since I do see the same problems as soon as I downloaded the picture 🙂

Aaaaand there’s the Victorian finery. 🙂

You know, THIS is the Sonic that’s been missing from the games.

People dismiss SatAM as being “too dark”, but they really have no idea what they are talking about. Its a bright world full of hope. It just also has actual conflict.

Robotnik is actually competent and can make a plan that doesn’t henge on the Chaos Emeralds.

(Actually, I found out that in Knuckles Chaotix for the 3ds, Eggman actually just used ONE Chaos Ring -yes, RING, not emerald- to power his evil schemes. Its the typical “if you don’t get all the emeralds, BAD ENDING” plot, but it makes sense because Eggman is only causing trouble THIS TIME because he already has one McGuffin, and we get to see how dangerous it is, so if you don’t get the other Rings, you will stop him just for him to succeed where you failed and grab another one.

I wish that they did it more often. Really too bad the 32x and CD games were saddled with only being on these expensive Genesis add-ons. It still doesn’t explain

Er, but back to Sonic’s character.

In the games, while Jason Griffith’s goofy, never serious voice didn’t help matters, there is the fact that we don’t really know anything about Sonic from the games. Shadow is the “mysterious character?” The only mystery about him, the only mystery there EVER was, was simply the details of what happened the day Maria was shot. Sonic Adventure 1 is a good example. It was the first game with voice acting and characterization, and each of the characters would want something and have an arc…all except for Sonic who just soullessly focuses on fullfilling his role as the “hero” by opposing Eggman. He interacts with Tails, Knuckles, and Amy at different times, but in all of those, we learn more about the other characters rather than Sonic himself.

Sonic’s had sidekicks before in all his different continuities, but the other freedom fighters and his relation to them (including Uncle Chuck) just adds so much personality. Its awesome that he can almost take off, and with a single word (which granted, she might NOT get in edgewise), Sally can stop him and get him to follow her much more discrete plan instead.

I mean, when Sonic came through the doors in the first frame, I actually CHEERED.

Cheered the way the canned audience cheers when the funny guy comes through a door. In exactly the same manner. I didn’t know you could have that reaction organically!

SatAM Robotnik is competent? He spent 10 years fighting a bunch of kids in a forest that he could have just burnt down with a discarded cigarette. Nobody dismissed SatAM as too dark unless they’re just trolling, SatAM was not very dark, sometimes it would have moments, but it was still nowhere near what the likes of Batman: TAS was. As for Sonic, his personallity has been severly lacking in the games of late. Though I actually think his character is better in this comic than in the cartoon itself. The main problem with the games however is not just how the characters are portraid, but the gameplay, they haven’t been fun since the Adventure games.

But you’re not going to read this comment anyway.

    Don’t be so sure, c.w.

Also, a lot of these trolls I remember wrote sabotage reviews on Amazon.com saying something along the lines of “will corrupt people’s image of Sonic FOREVER” or something. They’re around.

Also, compared to AoStH Robotnik, the big round guy was a McGuiver to a McGuiver to a McGuiver to a McGuiver….

Grounder and Scratch were stupid, but how stupid is the guy who keeps giving them all the important jobs? And even the Doc proves his stupidity when the Scheming Salesperson selling him weapons to defeat Sonic tries to warn him the red button on the atomizer is unsafe, Robotnik very nearly snatches it away and presses it just because, and I quote:

“I’m Doctor Robotnik! I touch whatever I want!”

But even that guy at least didn’t have every single scheme revolve around the Chaos Emeralds.
